Directed by Elizabeth Bettendorf Bowman
First featured in KCPublic’s Theatre Lab series in 2022, The Disappointments by Aaron Scully explores the challenges and triumphs of recovery from addiction. The story follows a young man named Second, who faces a life-altering ultimatum from his fiancée: stop drinking or lose her forever. Determined to change, Second enters The Good House, a treatment facility where he meets a group of fellow patients, each battling their own demons. These “disappointments,” along with his counselor, Patrick, help Second discover the strength and resilience needed to reclaim his life.
