BOXED

BOXED, is a dystopian, thriller office play set in a world where Black co-workers are forced to fight each other to the death at whim of their corporate overseers. In a world that encourages Black men to kill each other in order to economically survive, “BOXED,” asks if it’s possible for Black men to love each other in the face of state-sanctioned brutality or dream of liberation in a world where lethal violence is an everyday reality.

A staged reading of BOXED will be featured in our Theatre Lab Series prior to the production on January 10, 2027.

RYAN BERNSTEN CAN’T BE PRESIDENT

Ryan Bernsten Can’t Be President is a 50-minute interactive solo show that’s part comedy, part political memoir, and part live caucus. On the eve of becoming constitutionally eligible for the presidency, Ryan asks the audience to help build their ideal candidate while making the case for why he should never be one. Drawing on his misadventures in politics, a 50-state journey across America, and a lifetime of increasingly indefensible personal stories, the audience votes on what they actually want from a leader. But as Ryan deliberates with the audience to create that leader, the show turns toward a more unsettling question: in an age of rising autocracy, do we really want democratic leaders, or do we just want leaders who do what we want them to do? Irreverent, participatory, and civically minded, Ryan Bernsten Can’t Be President turns a comedy show into an election and asks what happens when democracy gives us an answer we don’t like.
